Heather S. Collier
Position: AssociateBorn in Dansville, New York, Heather has been practicing family law since 2005, having joined the firm after completing her judicial clerkship with the Honorable J. Ramsey Johnson of the District of Columbia Superior Court. In her practice, she represents clients in all aspects of family law litigation and negotiation. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Denison University, cum laude, in 2001 and her Juris Doctor from the American University-Washington College of Law, cum laude, in 2004. In 2009 and 2010, Heather was named as a “Rising Star” in the area of family law by Maryland Super Lawyers and Baltimore Magazine. She is appointed by the Montgomery County Circuit Court to represent children as a Child Privilege Attorney in disputed custody cases. Heather is actively involved in the Bar Association of Montgomery County, currently serving as Co-Chair of the BAMC New Practitioner’s section, sitting on the Executive Committee, and participating in the Family Law Section. She received the Bar President’s citation for Outstanding Service to the Association in 2007 and 2008 and was inducted as a Bar Leader of the Montgomery County Bar Foundation in 2007. Heather has served on the Professionalism, Strategic Planning and Social committees, as well as participating in the Youth Courthouse Project. She is a prior member of the Montgomery County Chapter of the Inns of Court. Heather is also actively involved in the Women’s Bar Association, having previously served as the member at large on the Executive Committee and she currently Co-Chairs the WBA Triennial Charity Auction. |
